Large-scale Olympic Collectible Trade Fair successfully concluded

  Champion Mo Huilan visits exhibition

  

“2009 Olympic Collectible Trade Fair” , which was sponsored by Xiamen Olympic Museum, Sports Committee China Collector Association and others,  lasted 9 days and was successfully concluded. Exhibits from Mr. Ching-kuo Wu , who is the International Olympic Committee member, International Boxing Association President and curator of Xiamen Olympic Museum, was awarded Outstanding Exhibition Contribution Prize.

 

        Numerous visitors on spot and crowded at the trading zone

 

“2009 Olympic Collectible Trade Fair” was officially opened on August 22nd in Beijing Panjiayuan Antique Market. For days large quantities of exhibits had satisfied continuous coming mass. Through visit, people seemed to go back to the passion burning August.

 

According to statistics, dozens of institutions participated in this trade fair and thousands of individual Olympic exhibits were shown. Enthusiasm of Olympic collection lovers were high and the total transactions had reached several million dollars.

 

There were thousands of exhibits such as emblems, mascots, torches, medals and other Olympic elements. The exhibits also included personal collections of Mr. Ching-kuo Wu-International Olympic Committee member and president of international Boxing Union. The Olympic treasures he collected were the first Olympic stamp of 1896, the only square diploma, the first badge of 1924, the first relay torch of 1936, Chinese delegation medicine chest and successive Olympic Games collection, over 200 Olympic Games badges and souvenirs. The most extensive collections were Beijing Olympic which include tickets, badges, poster, gold jade medals, torches, bamboo slips used for the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics and so on.

 

 “This is a really good exhibition. We have seen lots of rare Olympic treasures”. Such praises were very popular in the Panjiayuan Antique Market.. Mr. Pangbo, member of Sports Committee China Collection Association , was responsible for the whole reception. He said, “The pressure is high. Too many visitors keep me busy. But I am excited for the participants of forum and bidding are out of expectations. We feel that Chinese Olympic collection is just at the beginning and will be growing. 

 

Exhibition attracted champions  and champions attracted the public

 

Not only the fair aroused people’s enthusiasm for the Olympic collection, but attracted Olympic champions. A number of celebrities and champions came to the fair to help. Olympic and world champions Yang Ling, Wang Liping, Xing Aowei, Mo Huilan, Li Ya and others attended the news conference, opening ceremony, closing ceremony and awarding activities. They also showed their personal collections for many years. People’s passion were ignited by champion participation. People asked them to take photos and sign names.

 

On the closing ceremony, Sports Committee China Collection Association as well as other sponsors and champions awarded 29 advanced institutions and individuals “Outstanding Contribution and Excellence Prize”.

 

Lixiang, the exhibition principal, director of Sports Committee China Collection Association, Deputy Curator of Xiamen Olympic Museum, cultural scholar and famous Olympic Heritage collector, said the success of the trade fair not only enabled more Olympic enthusiasts to pick up the rare treasures but fully stimulate people’s passion for the Olympic collection and place the foundation for bringing up Olympic collection fans. I believed with the rise and growing force of China Olympic Collection China will become the world’s Olympic collection center in the near future.
