Xiamen Olympic Museum joined the IOC’s “Let’s Move” campaign and held celebrations on the 2024 Olympic Day

Olympic Day, established in 1948, is the global celebration of sport and getting active that takes place on 23 June each year to commemorate the day the IOC was founded in 1894 by Pierre de Coubertin. With Paris 2024 taking place in Coubertin’s birthplace, this summer is a special opportunity to demonstrate, once again, the power of the Olympic Games to unite the world in peaceful competition.
Let’s Move is an ongoing initiative spearheaded by the IOC that invites everyone to make time for movement every day.Olympic Day is nowadays much more than just a run or a sports event. It has developed into the only annual worldwide celebration of the Olympic Movement and is a day to promote a healthy and active lifestyle. Xiamen Olympic Museum organised sports, cultural and educational activities for all, regardless of age, gender, social background or sporting ability and encouraged people to get active on Olympic Day.

The activity kicked off with the cheerleading performance "Youth Dance Weaving Dreams" by students from Xiamen City University and got thunderous applause from the audience.
Then came the dance Going Up Vernal Hills by children from Xiamen Siming Guanyinshan Middle School, which showed people the hope and energy of spring.
The Eight-Section Brocade, also known as the "Ba Duan Jin" in Chinese, by students from Xiamen City University showed the attendence the traditional approach to promoting both physical fitness and mental well-being.
The Group Dance of Cheers, Supernova and The Show showed the passion and energy of the youth.
A tug-of-war is a sports event in which two teams test their strength by pulling against each other on opposite ends of a rope.
Gluttony snake game is a test of teamwork and strategic planning of the game, hands on the shoulders of teammates in front of the composition of the snake head, snake body, snake tail, from dispersed to orderly, from individual to group, and finally all the NPC fusion into a long Gluttony Snake. All the participants were able experience the joy of cooperation.
