Our Curator, Mr. Ching-Kuo Wu, former member of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee, recently visited the Chongqing Sports Federation and was hired as a special expert of the Chongqing Sports Museum. On the afternoon of May 20, Ding Hong, chairman of the Municipal Sports Federation, and Shi Qiangzhen, vice chairman of the Municipal Sports Federation, met with Wu Jingguo and his wife Liu Xin, and relevant persons in charge of Nanjing Olympic Museum, Xiamen Olympic Museum, and Tianjin Samaranch Memorial Hall.

Born in Chongqing in 1946, Mr. Ching-kuo Wu lived in Taiwan as a teenager and studied at Tunghai University in Taiwan. Mr. Ching-kuo Wu has served as a member of the International Olympic Committee for 32 consecutive years, devoted himself to the cause of Olympic education and culture, and twice voted in favor of Beijing's bid for the Olympic Games. In an interview in Xiamen last October, he said affectionately: "I am Chinese and also from Chongqing," "If I don't vote for China, who will I vote for?" ”

Mr. Ching-Kuo WU introduced his feelings about returning to Chongqing: "The last time I returned to Chongqing was in 2004, and it has been exactly 20 years since then. I was born in Dongyang Town, Beibei District, my maternal grandfather and maternal grandmother are from Liangping, I went to Beibei and Liangping this time, I have seen many places, especially emotional, very warm, I didn't expect it to develop so fast, very modern, and the road system is very well repaired. ”

Mr. Ching-kuo Wu watched the demonstration video of the exhibition layout of the Chongqing Sports Museum and put forward a series of suggestions. He said: Now the Chongqing Sports Museum has collected a lot of donated items, and it is recommended to classify them in detail and make good use of them. Someone proposed that I donate a part, I seriously combed through all the things in the collection, there are more than 30,000 pieces in 4 museums (referring to the Xiamen Olympic Museum, etc.), we will screen some of them, and in the future they can be placed in Chongqing, where I was born, and tell you about some of the things I have experienced, including my nearly 30 years of interaction with Samaranch, and there will be some enlightening concepts. Chongqing, with such good mountains and rivers and such a big city, should have the same impact after this sports museum is made.

He said: "This return to Chongqing has increased more understanding, the willingness to return to my hometown is stronger, I hope that sports can take root in Chongqing well, prepare well, we have a common wish, we can see an international large-scale games held in Chongqing."

Ding Hong, Chairman of the Municipal Sports Federation, extended a warm welcome to Mr. Ching-kuo Wuand his entourage, and thanked Mr. Ching-kuo Wu for his feelings for his family and country and the promotion and dissemination of the Olympic spirit. Ding Hong said that Mr. Wu's suggestion is very good, and the Chongqing Sports Museum should carefully write the exhibition outline and tell the sports story well; It is necessary to enrich the forms of expression, both traditional and modern, including AI, intelligent display, etc.; More importantly, it has given us great confidence that sports are global and inseparable, and we hope to see the history of sports and the intrinsic connection with the Olympic spirit through the window of Chongqing Sports Museum.
