Xiamen CPPCC Deputy Chairman Pan Shijian as “Temporary Docent”

On Sep.15th, Huaihua(Hunan Province) Municipal CPPCC deputy chairman Yang Linhua and Xiamen Municipal CPPCC deputy chairman Pan Shijian with other officials inspected the museum.

After an introduction of the construction and management of the museum by Wu Yun, the vice curator, the crew also appreciated each main exhibition hall. When they came to the painting “The Happy Time”, Wu specified its story, which witnessed the vital moment when Beijing successfully won the 2008 Olympics bid. Actually, Wu Ching-kuo had been fully supportive for Beijing and made great contributions. As they stood in front of the “Perpetual Pace” statue, Wu said, it’s not only witnessed the sports and culture exchanges between Xiamen and the IOC but the evidence of Wu Ching-kuo’s efforts to exchanges between Xiamen and the world. In the Paralympics exhibition hall, Wu told the story of a three-time Olympics winner of High Jump, Hou Bin, whose courage and bravery was worth being studied and promoted among the youngster students. Viewing such abundant collection of value and history, Yang Linhua couldn’t hide his admiration.                                            

As a regular guest, Pan had been so familiar with the museum that in some exhibition halls, he actively participated as “temporary docent” and exemplified the museum’s activities like the public course, Olympic education among the young and caring for the vulnerable. He hoped more enterprises and social associations as well as individuals take part into the Olympic promotion and support its development. 

Yang highlighted Xiamen Olympic Museum’s role in promoting sports and cultural exchanges among Xiamen, China and other countries, across the strait as well as Olympic education among the young generation, complimented Wu Ching-kuo’s efforts in Olympic culture and spirits spread in China. Additionally, he advocated youngster students in Hunan Province should visit Olympic museums if possible, where they would learn more about high tech applied in the Olympics and experience excitement and passion sparked by the modern Olympics while reviewing its long long history.
