January 2, 2013- At the beginning of the New Year, students from Xiamen Children Welfare Association came to Xiamen Olympic Museum to study. At the first place, Captain Wei Jun of “Xia Men” sailing boat told his story of voyage around the world to students. Through the photos on display taken in the voyage, students realized the hardship and efforts the sailors went through, and they were encouraged to be brave and do their best to overcome difficulties in their daily study. All the students sincerely admired “Xia Men” sailors’ spirit and stated they would learn from Captain Wei and be people who would contribute to society in the future.
At the end of the visiting, Deputy Director Yun Wu presented the museum’s 2013 desk calendar to every student as a New Year gift. The students were very happy to have the exquisite gifts.
As one of the important popular science education bases in Fujian Province, Xiamen Olympic Museum invites and organizes several groups of social vulnerable teenagers to the museum every year. They are migrant worker children or students from children welfare association and special school. They experience and study Olympic knowledge at the museum, and as same as the ordinary youngsters, they have the chance to personally experience and share Olympics.
