The Xiamen Sailing Boat Voyage Round the World Photography Exhibition Launches at Xiamen Olympic Museum

In order to spread spirit of patriotism and bold fighting spirit of Fujian people, and to show Xiamen citizens’ energetic status, the Xiamen Voyage Round the World Photography Exhibition was ceremoniously started at Xiamen Olympic Museum, sponsored by Xiamen Municipal Propaganda Department, Sports Bureau, Oceanic & Fishery Bureau, and Education Bureau, undertaken by Xiamen Sailing & Yacht Association, Xiamen Olympic Museum, Xiamen Road & Bridge Yacht Development CO., LTD., Xiamen Iron Rock Sailing Club, and Xiamen HanHaiZunLong Yacht Club.

The Xiamen set sail in November 3, 2011, and returned Xiamen in September 14, 2012, with a voyage of about two thousand and three hundred sea miles, passing some countries, like the Philippines, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, South Africa, Madagascar, Seychelles, Maldives, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, stretching over the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Indian Ocean, across Drake Strait and Malacca Strait, crossing Cape Horn and Cape of Good Hope. In the tough situation of the voyage, the sailors overcame the severe cold and burning hot, defeated the injuries and fear, finally came true the dream of the first voyage around the world of China’s sailing boat, also the first time to cross the Prevailing Westerlies, the South Pacific, and the Cape Horn.
