January 4, 2013- The Donation Ceremony of the First Olympic Marathon Champion Collections & the Photo Exhibition of Xiamen International Marathon was held at Xiamen Olympic Museum, sponsored by Xiamen Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, Xiamen Municipal Sports Bureau, Xiamen Olympic Museum, Xiamen People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and so on. Attendees were Xiamen Municipal Deputy Mayor Kang Tao, Xiamen Municipal Foreign Affairs Office Director Hong Chengzong, Xiamen Municipal Sports Bureau Secretary Wang Gang, IOC Executive Board Member Ching-Kuo Wu, also the president of AIBA and the founder of Xiamen Olympic Museum, IAAF Run Affairs Senior Manager Shawn Wallace Jones, Xiamen Sister City--Marathon, Greece Mayor Louizos, the Greek Embassy in Guangzhou Consul General Constantine, Xiamen Sister City—Pyeongtaek, South Korea Mayor Jin Shanji, Chairman Lee Xitai, and Xiamen International Marathon 2013 Chinese Taipei Delegation and so on.
 
In January 2012, Marathon Municipal Mayor Louizos came to Xiamen for the marathon race. And he saw the introduction about the first Olympic marathon champion Spiridon Louis in 1896 when he visited Xiamen Olympic Museum. With the suggestion of Mayor Louizos, Marathon City donated the collections of the first Olympic marathon champion to the museum as its permanent exhibits, hoping more people learn marathon charm, spread marathon spirit, and share marathon happiness. In addition, Mayor Louizos stated that Xiamen Olympic Museum was not only a visiting place but also a school where we could learn some new ideas, value, principle, at the same time, the power of team work, and the strength of human beings, to fulfill some dreams that is hard to come true. On the contrary, the founder of the museum, Dr. Chin-Kuo WU, sincerely appreciated Mayor Louizos’ attention and support to the museum, and said the museum would carefully collect these precious exhibits to spread marathon spirit. In addition, Dr. Wu thanked again for the coming of all the distinguished guests at home and abroad for the ceremony.
 
After the donation ceremony, the attendees watched the photo exhibition of Xiamen international marathon race.
