Statue-Inscription of "Perpetual Pace"
99 Marathon statues debuted in the beautiful Round Island Road on March 25th,2005. International Olympic member Ching-kuo Wu brought the news to the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland.
IOC president Jacques Rogge selected 2 athlete statues personally to put in the Olympic Museum located in Lausanne, Switzerland. IOC president Rogge sent the English inscription "Perpetual Pace" to the mayor of Xiamen in the donation ceremony for the 2 statues was held on April 25th, 2006.
The government of Xiamen made president Rogge’s inscription as city statue and put it stand on the Road Island with Marathon statuary group to be the permanent witness of Xiamen’s glory.
This statue-Inscription of "Perpetual Pace" stood on the Round Island Road at the beginning. Now it is collected in Xiamen Olympic Museum and show to the public. It is an isosceles triangle. Its positive part is the English Inscription "Perpetual Pace" written by Rogge; its left part is the English explanation of the inscription’s original; its right part is the Chinese explanation of the inscription’s original. To keep the "perpetual Pace" in statue forever is perfect combination and Inheritance of art, the spirit of marathon and the spirit of Olympic "Citius, Altius, Fortius".
